RFID system keeps kids safe on the farm

Prairie Tech Enterprises Ltd. has developed an RFID warning system designed to alert heavy machinery operators when children or pets are nearby, according to Springwise.
Made up of three farming families from Western Canada, Prairie Tech came up with this concept dubbed “Where Abouts,” an RFID-based safety system which protects both small children and pets from the hazards associated with heavy farm operated machinery and vehicles.

TWhere Abouts is comprised of two components: an RFID-coded wristband which is worn by the child or pet, and a battery-powered RFID reader attach to the windshield of a farm vehicle. This device alerts and warns the driver when within 100 feet of a wristband.
Compliant with Canadian regulations, the Where Abouts system is set for its official launch next month.
