MODE OF COMMUNICATION
iWatch Security Product Supports two types of Communication:-
1) Serial Communication (RS232&RS485)
2) Wiegand Communication
Serial Communication (RS232&RS485)
Introduction to RS-232:
RS-232 (Recommended standard-232) is a standard interface for connecting serial devices. In other words, RS-232 is a long established standard that describes the physical interface and protocol for relatively low-speed serial data communication between computers and related devices.
RS232 is the most known serial port used in transmitting the data in communication and interface. Even though serial port is harder to program than the parallel port, this is the most effective method in which the data transmission requires less wires that yields to the less cost. The RS232 is the communication line which enables the data transmission by only using three wire links. The three links provides ‘transmit’, ‘receive’ and common ground…
Introduction to RS485
RS485 are serial communication methods for computers and devices. RS232 is without doubt the best known interface, because this serial interface is implemented on almost all computers available today. But some of the other interfaces are certainly interesting because they can be used in situations where RS232 is not appropriate. So when RS232 not communicating that time we can use RS485 Communication method as another Solution method. When communicating at high data rates, or over long distances in real world environments, single-ended methods are often inadequate. Differential data transmission (balanced differential signal) offers superior performance in most applications. For high speed communication comparison of RS232, EIA released new serial interface, RS-485.
Wiegand Communication:-
Wiegand Data Interface is one of the most widespread interfaces in access control industry. Wiegand interface is a defacto industry standard used for interfacing card readers (smart card, proximity cards) to control panels. So basically the Wiegand format is used for security card data encoding. the term WIEGAND is used it basically means a 26-bit data format with a specific arrangement of binary data. This 26-bit data format is a widely used industry standard. Almost all access control systems accept the standard 26-bit data format. 26-bit originated with true Wiegand swipe card technology. There are other data format like the 34-bit & 37-bit format which use the same signaling standard as that of Wiegand but have different data formatting standard. Wiegand technology originated from an arrangement of magnetic wire strips inserted within a card and read by a Wiegand magnetic swipe reader. This protocol allows most control panels to easily determine ID and Facility code regardless of the system. A Wiegand format is the name given to a specific arrangement of ones and zeros programmed into proximity card(or other technology device such as fingerprint reader) that when read and sent to an access control panel complies with the Wiegand protocol. Formats can be open, such as 26-bit Wiegand, or custom for higher security.
